The female employed economically active population (PEA) increased 11.3% in the last moving quarter (June-August), totaling 232,000 people who joined the labor market in Metropolitan Lima, compared to the same period in 2020, reported the Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion (MTPE).
For its part, the growth in the employed EAP of men was 5.3%, that is, 136,900 people were inserted into the labor market in the mobile quarter analyzed, according to statistics corroborated by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI).
When analyzing the figures by age group, the employed population aged 45 and over showed a growth of 13.5% (201,300 people); those between 25 and 44 years old at 6.2% (146,900 people) and the population between 14 and 24 years old at 2.8% (21,000 people).
According to the educational level, in the moving quarter of analysis, the growth was reflected in the university population (18.4%; 194,800 people), technical studies (10%; 87,300 people) and those with secondary education (4%; 93,700 people). .
Sectors and companies
The MTPE detailed that the sectors that drove growth in the employed population were Services, rising by 14.1% (336,900 people); Construction, at 4.1% (16,900 people); Manufacturing, at 2.4% (15,300 people), and Commerce, at 0.7% (8,200 people).
The greatest variation in employment occurred in companies with 11 to 50 workers, with an increase of 27.8% (102,300 people), followed by those with 51 or more workers, with 7.5% (90,200 people), and from 1 to 10 workers, with 5.7% (176,600 people). On the other hand, the ministry specified that it should be considered that the employed population in Metropolitan Lima reached 5 million 15,400 people in the June-August moving quarter, increasing by 7.9% (369,100 people) compared to the similar period in 2021. In relation to the same moving quarter 2020 (pandemic), the employed PEA increased 38.9% (one million 404,100 people); however, when compared to pre-pandemic records (2019), the increase was 1.7% (83,300 people).
